Spending my early childhood in Southern Illinois I felt I had a good sense of all four seasons. Now that I am in central Alabama I have to cherish these mild evenings because they do not come around very often. It was wonderful to sleep with the windows open last night and hear the sounds of leaves move along the pavement. All I need now is a spiced apple scent to fill the house along with red, orange, and yellow leaves to cover our lawn. Big sweaters and cider here I come!
This weekend we headed to Auburn to enjoy an early sunny game. I was able to see my sweet friend Tracy for breakfast. You know those friends you get to see every so often and pick up right where you left off? Well, she happens to be one of those friends for me! I loved that we had a breakfast date and she took some time to meet me on my tight schedule. Afterwards, Jonathan and I headed to the stadium and then to a fun place where frosty beverages are served. You can tell after spending one half at the game in the hot sun, a cold one is just what I needed!
After leaving Toomer's Corner (where our fans celebrate a win) we eventually make it to my brother's fraternity house to meet up with my family. My middle brother Thomas (who lived with us a few months this summer) turned 21 today so we met up to celebrate, eat a little dinner, and have a good time. I know I talk about my family a lot, but my heart just seems to burst with love when I think of them. I am so thankful that I have these amazing people that I can call mine. My little brothers are going to make some ladies very happy one day... if I can stand to share them!
We enjoyed Mexican, sharing stories, singing Happy Birthday in english, and embarassing Thomas a second time with a song sung in Spanish! He was precious looking around hoping no one saw his family hollering and clapping to the restaurant's version of Happy Birthday. Thomas, if you are reading this know how much we all love you and want you to enjoy it while you can! (21 will come and go quickly brother, enjoy it.)
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend and that good weather will come your way this week!
You look so pretty in that first picture and not like you have been sitting out in the hot sun. I had so much fun at breakfast the other day. Thanks for coming in early so we could hang. Love you girl!!! I still want to see the poem. You can email it to me.
