Moving On

In my last post I mentioned I was coming up for air. We all have those periods in life where things get a little out of control. For me, I needed to stop blogging and wrap my head around some changes that were headed my way. Whoever said, “when it rains it pours” is brilliant and must have been overwhelmed too.

Last week I put in my two weeks’ notice at my job. It was a really tough thing to do. I like the people I work with, I enjoy the creative environment, I thought I always wanted to be in publishing, but at the same time I was not happy. After talking to Jonathan, praying, and much deliberation it was time I moved on to something I was passionate about. I guess when I think about how much time I spend at work, why not do what I enjoy?

Friday is my last day and I begin my new position on Monday. If there’s one thing that I can say I am most thankful for is I made a lot of friends at my old job. For that, I am truly grateful!

coming up for air

I am here. I am coming up for air to tell you when things get a little hectic the last thing I remember to do is blog. Just know I am thinking of you and will have a lot to share over the next week. On this Wednesday I want to leave you with one of my favorite quotes...

Faith consists in believing when it is beyond the power of reason to believe.

Birds of a Feather

I have been meaning to post this "Bird Sighting" for a few weeks now. I love the saying "Birds of a Feather Flock Together." Meaning, those with similar tastes and interests congregate in groups. I think it goes without saying that I am hooked on bird items right now and want to share a few goodies I found on Etsy.

I hope you enjoyed these little gems as much as I have. Some are gorgeous because of their rich color and others by being plain and simple. I also have a request if you find any great bird/feather goods please post them in the comments! I love seeing them to add to my personal collection and favorites page. Have a wonderful weekend!

We're stuck

Anyone in the South East knows what happens when wintry weather reaches our area... everything shuts down. Right now we have a few inches of snow and a lot of ice. Unfortunately, we do not have the equipment to deal with this kind of situation so the city/state closes up shop. Therefore, dear friends, I have a snow day! This means I am reading magazines, finishing a book, and doing some online window shopping all from the comfort of my comfy couch and sweats. (This may call for some delicious hot chocolate!)

Not a bad start to the week for us and a great way to get ready to watch the National Championship tonight. I hope it's AUsome!

New Year's Promise

This post may not be what you expect. It's mainly about what I want and hope for 2011. I love the New Year because it's full of possibilities and new beginnings. I feel at each New Year that I can't believe the last one is over and I try to think of what I can do better for the next one.
Last year was tough. My husband and I sold a home, moved, rented, bought a new homee and had moments where we really tested eachother. It can be tough when there are a lot of things going on that add additional stress in your life. I would be lying if it said it was easy. For me it's hard because many of the things I stressed over were things I could not control. When you want everything to go right and be perfect it tends to be the opposite sometimes, doesn't it?
I am not really a fan of "resolutions" because those tend to be easily broken. Instead I want to call this a New Year's Promise. I think with prayer and God's help this can be the year of being. This is what I mean...

... Not wanting more, but being grateful with what I have.
... Change what I can and not dwell on things I can't control. Being able to give up control.
... Being still. Being quiet. Being able to have moments of reflective silence.
... And lastly being the best me. Being the me God wanted and sharing it with others.

I hope you have luck in your own New Year's promises. I have a feeling this is going to be a great year!
